A visit to the mall

Today our big excitement was going to the mall. Patricia took us to get us out of the house. We did buy ice cream there, but that's it. It was open in the middle and the stores surround the open area. There were fish ponds, which the boys LOVED, especially Juan. He really likes any kind of animals. I was really afraid he might just "accidentally" fall in. He wanted to reach in with his hands and catch one. We were able to see a little more of Ibague driving there. The mountains that surround it are just beautiful. When we flew in it was dark and we really couldn't see anything. Hopefully, we will leave during the day and I won't be too afraid to look. :) We only went to one park today. We did take a walk before dinner to try to burn off some energy. The way they ate dinner tonight you would think we had walked miles! They really are good eaters. Not too picky, but a little. They have to be persuaded to try things. (just like their mother) I thought about my mom today. She says that when we were younger we were always saying to her "Mommy, make her". Wanting her to tell Mary to do something. She said she thought that was what her name was. Well, I know what my new name is. It is "Mommy, mira". (don't know if that's spelled right)It means, "Mommy, look". I must hear that a hundred times a day.
Not much else new to report. We have played many games of Uno with Maicol. Dan says it's a great game for learning numbers and colors in English. I have been playing Memory with Juan. Maicol usually beats me.
Looking forward to a good nights rest and doing it all again tomorrow. Goodnight for now.

Hot wheels are great - even at the mall.

Beautiful beautiful pix of the boys and the environs of Ibague. Karen, sorry we missed the call - we were birthday partying our friend Amelia. Terribly exciting for Catharine and not too bad for her mom and dad either. Try us again when you can. We're reading your posts every night. It seems impossible to say, but I feel as though we love them already. You both look happy and confident and such natural good parents.

The fish pond attraction is essentially the same reason I am unwilling to take the boys to the Grand Canyon at this time in their lives. We really think they should go sometime, but we'd like to bring all three back intact!

The younger two were getting along so well that they are each on their own bed waiting for me to come and send them to the bath.

Matthew walked to one of his friends' houses. It's really not very far (maybe 1/3 of the distance he had to walk the other day to get to school!), but he had to cross Route 16. And he forgot to call when he arrived.

So did Juan get something to sleep with other than the dog's toys? All of my boys play with the cat toys at one of our friends' house.

Alas, our swimming season has ended. The YMCA we belonged to this summer only has an outdoor pool, and Labor Day was the last day. Micah especilly loved it.

Good luck getting everyone to bed tonight. I'm shooting for all three in by 8:30. Matthew has been very tired when it's time to get ready for school.
