Dossier to Colombia

We received word today from our agency that our dossier is on its way to Colombia! It will be translated and then presented to the ICBF for approval. After we are approved as adoptive parents hopefully it won't be long until we have a referral and know who our children will be. How exciting!!

We received the much anticipated 171H yesterday! This is the final form from CIS that we needed in order to complete our dossier. We still need to put together a few pictures of our family and house, have everything apostilled at the Secretary of State's office in Indy and then it will be ready to go to our agency in Oregon. They will check it over and send it on to Colombia for translation into Spanish and presentation to ICBF. After our approval by the Colombian government we are eligible to receive a referral of children. Your guess is as good as ours as to when that will happen. We have been told it may happen very quickly, but there are no guarantees. I will be very happy to be done with the paperwork and just sit back and wait for things to happen. I guess we won't really be doing nothing, we have a whole list of things to get done in and around the house. :)

Welcome

Welcome to our blog. We plan to use this primarily to keep you up to date on our journey to adopt a sibling group of 3 from Colombia. We started with the initial application to Children's Hope in January 2007 and are now 2-4 weeks away from having all of our paperwork completed and ready to be sent to Colombia. Once it is there and translated we will be waiting on a referral and hopefully travel 3-4 weeks after that. If current timelines continue we should be back with our children before the end of the year. We have requested children age 7 and under but did not specify boys or girls - so there are some exciting surprises in store for us! We will update this site as things progress and we know more specifics.

Thanks for following our journey.
